Kentucky Yoga Initiative’s (KYI) mission is to build healthy and compassionate communities by empowering individuals to ignite change in their lives through the transformative practice of yoga. This is accomplished in three ways: Outreach classes and community classes to under-served populations in Louisville, Lexington, and Paducah, and scholarships for yoga-related programs.

Outreach Classes

KYI’s outreach program brings yoga to people who may not otherwise be exposed to it.  Outreach classes are KYI's flagship program, taking place at programs and facilities from halfway homes to organizations working with at risk youth. KYI strives to create possibility and empowerment in each person’s life through the physical practice of yoga. Community Classes

These classes taught in community centers, art galleries, libraries, and health centers are open to all and are always free or donation based. You can find our schedule of classes here: Louisville Calendar | Paducah Calendar.

As KYI’s outreach program has grown, many students have expressed interest in deepening their practice through workshops and teacher trainings.  Kentucky Yoga Initiative has set up a scholarship program so that these individuals may apply for funding to pursue these greater interests.  By helping to fund these students’ growth and development, they are able to give back to their communities, which is the greatest form of empowerment. The focus for 2018 is professional development for our current volunteers. To find out more information about KYI's scholarships, please email
