How will we accomplish this?
KYI’s outreach program brings yoga to people who may not otherwise be exposed to it. From halfway homes to community health centers and organizations working with at risk youth, KYI strives to create possibility and empowerment in each person’s life through the physical practice of yoga.
Kentucky Yoga Initiative will set up a scholarship program so that individuals interested in yoga teacher training or workshops may apply for funding to pursue these greater interests. By helping to fund students’ growth and development, they are able to give back to their communities, which is the greatest form of empowerment.
The Sanskrit word “seva” means service. An important part of KYI’s mission is to create a center where classes are offered free of charge. By offering classes at no cost, our hope is to break down the barriers that make yoga inaccessible to many, and to build a stronger community.
